Hello! My name is Amy Laird and I am the school counselor at Ferguson Elementary. I am originally from Victoria,Texas and graduated from Texas State University (Go Bobcats)! This is my seventh year as counselor at Ferguson Elementary and we are looking forward to a great year!

What does a school counselor do?

As a school counselor, my goal is to help students have an academically and personally fulfilling experience here at school. I work with students individually, in topic groups and in classrooms. I also am excited to work with our teachers and staff on school-wide character. I love working with your children everyday and I am always here to help!


 At Ferguson our students are T.R.R.F.C.C.!

What does T.R.R.F.C.C. stand for?  


Respect ~ Think “The Golden Rule”

·       Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule

·       Be tolerant of differences 

·       Use good manners, not bad language 

·       Be considerate of the feelings of others 

·       Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone 

·       Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements


Responsibility ~ Think green! like being responsible for a garden or finances; or as in being solid and reliable like an oak

·       Do what you are supposed to do

·       Persevere: keep on trying! 

·       Always do your best 

·       Use self-control 

                ·       Be self-disciplined

·       Think before you act – consider the consequences 

·       Be accountable for your choice

Fairness ~ Think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends

·       Play by the rules 

·       Take turns and share 

·       Be open-minded; listen to others 

·       Don’t take advantage of others 

·       Don’t blame others carelessly

Caring ~ Think of a heart

·       Be kind

·       Be compassionate and show you care 

·       Express gratitude 

·       Forgive others

Citizenship ~ Think regal purple as representing the state

·       Do your share to make your school and community better

·       Cooperate 

·       Get involved in community affairs

Trustworthiness- Think “true blue
